About the Journal
Humanities Spectrum is a bi-annual peer-reviewed academic journal of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Catholic University of Cameroon (CATUC), Bamenda. It is an official Faculty publication dedicated to rigorous, original scholarship in the humanities and social sciences, with particular emphasis on African perspectives and Global South experiences.
The journal is published online as an open-access journal. All articles are freely available to readers without subscription or paywall barriers. Authors retain copyright while granting the journal a license to publish their work.
Mission and Aims
- Advance high-quality, critical, and innovative research in the humanities and social sciences
- Foster interdisciplinary dialogue across fields that investigate culture, society, language, ideas, and human experience
- Provide a credible platform for established and early-career scholars, especially from Africa and the wider Global South
- Contribute to ongoing debates on culture, ethics, identity, development, governance, conflict, peace, and social transformation
Scope
The journal covers a broad range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, including:
- Philosophy, history, religious studies, and ethics
- Philosophy and education
- Literature, linguistics, and cultural studies
- Sociology and anthropology
- Political science, international relations, and governance
- Psychology (social, cultural, and community perspectives)
- Geography and environmental humanities
- Gender studies, feminist and queer studies
- Development studies, peace and conflict studies
- African studies and Global South studies
- Economics and Management-related Studies
Publication Frequency
The journal appears twice a year (biannually) as an online-only, open-access journal. Each article is published as a separate PDF and includes full citation details.
